25. The Most Nutritious Citrus Fruit.

Grapefruit boosts your vitamin C level, which makes it highly nutritious amongst various citrus fruit, and it brings the benefits of which are derived from various nutrients and vitamins such as potassium, calcium and lycopene.

24. Provide Daily Vitamin C Dose.

An average-sized grapefruit contains about half of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. So grab grapefruits if you want to snack, and you will not need to worry about your Vitamin C level.

23. Make it a Main Course.

Grapefruit is most often associated with breakfast, but don’t let that limit your imagination. Grapefruit is also great in salads, because it goes well with fish, chicken, and even seeds. Cheer your salad up with some pieces of grapefruit.

22. Fight Against Cancer.

Grapefruit is loaded with antioxidants which are used in the body to reduce the oxidative stress, and eventually lead to decreased cancer risk as well. Grapefruit is especially effective in reducing the likelihood of colon cancer development.

21. Hydrate Your Body.

More than 85% of a grapefruit is water, so no wonder you feel refreshed after eating a big juicy grapefruit on a hot summer day.

20. Helps You to Achieve Your Weight Loss Goal.

If you wish to lean down, grapefruit is a must in your new diet. Not only it is highly nutritious, but it is low in calories, and thanks to its high fiber content, you will feel full after eating one.

19. Warning! You Cannot Mix it With Certain Medication.

There is an enzyme in the lining of the bowels, called CYP3A4 which plays a key role in breaking down certain medications in the body. Grapefruit consumption has been shown to result in potentially dangerous levels of certain drugs in the body. These drugs are: statins (lower blood lipid levels e.g. Lipitor), painkillers, narcotics (e.g. Fentanyl patch), HIV drugs, and anti-anxiety drugs (e.g. Xanax). If you are taking medication regularly, ask your pharmacist whether you can eat grapefruit in larger amounts.

18. Loaded with Antioxidants.

Oxidative stress occurs when cells are exposed to extreme conditions (a good example for that is the effect of smoking on lung cells). The generated oxidative roots can cause molecular damage in cells, e.g. break the DNA – which can initiate cancerous transformation in the tissues. Antioxidants can neutralize those oxidative roots, and subsequently lead to cancer prevention as well.

17. No More Constipation.

As we have mentioned, grapefruit contains a lot of fiber, and you might know that fiber stimulates more frequent bowel movements, and loose up the consistency of the stool as well. So if you experience constipation, try to include more grapefruit in your diet.
