Simona Halep a fost desemnată în premieră campioană mondială de ITF

Simona Halep a primit încă un premiu după sezonul de vis 2018. Federaţia Internaţională de Tenis a anunţat că românca este campioana mondială a anului.

Roland Garros winner Simona Halep was named 2018's ITF World Champion while WTA Doubles Co-No.1s Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova took top honors in women's doubles.

The ITF announced today that Romania’s Simona Halep has been named the 2018 ITF World Champion for the first time. ATP No.1 Novak Djokovic was named men's ITF World Champion.

Halep enjoyed Grand Slam success in 2018, claiming her maiden major title at Roland Garros and reaching the final at the Australian Open. The Romanian has spent 40 weeks of the year ranked as World No.1, and was the WTA Year-End World No.1 Singles Ranking presented by Dubai Duty Free for a second straight year. She was voted 2018's WTA Player of the Year during the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

“It's a great honour to be named as ITF World Champion for the first time," Halep said. "I had an incredible year, winning my first Grand Slam at Roland Garros and finishing the year as World No.1. To be recognized in this way is really special and provides extra motivation to keep working for next season."

The Women’s Doubles World Champions are Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, who lifted the trophy at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year and were members of the Czech Republic team that won the Fed Cup title.

The junior World Champion is ITF Junior Masters winner and junior year-end No. 1 Clara Burel from France.

“Congratulations to our 2018 ITF World Champions who have demonstrated immense skill, talent and dedication on their way to achieving great success on the court," said ITF President David Haggerty. "They are a credit to our sport and have all contributed to another memorable year for tennis.”

The ITF’s selection of its senior World Champions is based on an objective system that considers all results during the year, but gives special weight to the Grand Slam tournaments, and two ITF international team competitions, Davis Cup and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas.

The ITF World Champions will receive their awards at the 2019 ITF World Champions Dinner on June 4, in Paris, during Roland Garros.
