“When sophistication meets a cool and edgy attitude”

Now that we are back home, took a few days to rest and to let the whole Fashion Week experience sink in, we’ve got time to talk.

As I’ve mentioned before, this year I had the honor to be part of the Irina Schrotter team and did my best to help them take over Vienna. Our mission was a complete success, so I’m very happy to let you know that starting next week we will all move into the Schönbrunn Palace. Jokes aside, Irina Schrotter is the brand you go to when you’re looking for refinement, sophistication, high quality and most importantly, comfortable garments. It’s one of the few Romanian brands that have been acknowledged and appraised by the international press and have shops on four continents.

I could go on telling you how and why Irina Schrotter is amazing for quite a while, however I believe the Spring – Summer 2016 collection that was launched on Vienna’s runway will speak for itself.

Femininity is quite the popular topic nowadays. Whether we’re talking about feminism, about what a woman should or shouldn’t be or about destroying all labels whatsoever once and for all, people are talking and that’s a good thing. Since the beginning of time one duty that was always attributed to women was looking pretty. Beauty standards then started being imposed and in order to achieve them, most of the time ladies had to give up being comfortable. From corsets to high heels, fashion has, most of the time, assigned constrictive items to the concept of femininity, which lead to women having to make sacrifices in order to be the kind of “feminine” the current standard imposed. The Spring Summer 2016 collection signed by Lucian Broscatean explores a different perspective, one in which a woman can be feminine and sophisticated without having to give up her comfort. If we were to describe it by using only three words, those would be relevant, consistent and relatable. Geometric cuts, comfortable and relaxed shapes, all come together united by tasteful prints to create a new, sometimes asymmetrical, silhouette. Chromatically speaking, the palette is dominated by variations of beige, ochre, sand and navy blue, that adorn the dress-shirt, draped cardigans, items with deconstructed details and elegant, minimalistic dresses (that have become part of the brand’s DNA).
