Pricing for the new iPad starts at US$449, with the iPad Pro (pictured here with the optional Magic Keyboard Folio) going for a minimum of $799
While some new versions of existing devices really just offer a few new features, Apple states that the just-announced 10th-Gen version of the iPad has been completely redesigned. The company has also unveiled a "supercharged" 6th-Gen iPad Pro.
First (and maybe foremost?), the new iPad features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display that extends right to edges of the device. This setup provides more screen area on an iPad which is "nearly the same size as the previous generation." The display boasts 2360 x 1640-pixel resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and True Tone technology – the latter automatically adjusts the picture's white point based on ambient light color and brightness.
Another notable new feature is the inclusion of Apple's A14 Bionic chip, which is claimed to deliver a 20% increase in CPU performance and 10% improvement in graphics performance. According to Apple, the chip also makes the new iPad up to five times faster than the best-selling Android tablet. The A14 Bionic's 16-core Neural Engine is additionally claimed to boost machine learning capabilities by up to 80%.

Artist's concept of the Perseverance rover, which has the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment aboard

If humans are to one day survive and thrive on Mars, ready access to breathable oxygen will be a necessity, and an interesting technology is beginning to show exciting promise on this front. MIT's Moxie experiment was shipped to the Red Planet aboard the Perseverance rover for the purposes of producing oxygen using CO2, and after a year of testing, has been found to do so reliably at day or night, and across the seasons.
The lunchbox-sized Moxie, which standards for Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment, traveled to Mars aboard the Perseverance rover in 2020. After touching down in the Jezero crater in February of 2021, the unit was soon put to work and around two months later produced its first oxygen, around 5.4 grams (0.2 oz) of the stuff.

Primul studiu mondial testează implanturile de creier la oameni pentru a opri mâncatul excesiv PDF Imprimare
Luni, 05 Septembrie 2022 10:48

After six months of testing, the first two patients in a pilot trial reported promisingly positive results from an implant intended to stop binge eating

In a first-of-its-kind pilot study, scientists have surgically implanted a device into the brains of two obese subjects suffering from binge-eating disorder. The device was designed to detect and disrupt brain signals associated with binge-eating food cravings, with promising results laying the foundations for a future where implants can control a variety of impulsive behaviors.
In late 2017 a fascinating study was published that suggested certain activity in a brain region called the nucleus accumbens could be linked to harmful impulsive behaviors such as binge-eating. The study demonstrated in mice how a brain implant could, in real-time, detect activity linked to binge-eating impulses, deliver pulses of electricity to block those signals, and subsequently stop the animals from excessive food consumption.
