Nokia today announced that it is working with industry partners* to show how 5G private wireless will significantly enhance the customer stadium and media experience during the 2022 TISSOT UCI Track World Championships, being held from 12-16 October near Paris.
Nokia has deployed a 5G Modular Private Wireless (MPW) network at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines National Velodrome. During the five-day event, enhanced viewing and entertainment experience will be offered to fans, athletes, organizers and broadcasters, in cooperation with UCI and Eurovision Sport for TV production.
Nokia is using both 5G mmWave and 5G cmWave to show how they deliver extreme capacity, ultra-low latency and ultra-high throughput to meet the diverse demands of many stakeholders – spectators, sponsors, medias. Beyond the immersive experience, robust private wireless networks also support video and data sharing to improve situational awareness in the stadium for security and safety teams.

If humans are to one day survive and thrive on Mars, ready access to breathable oxygen will be a necessity, and an interesting technology is beginning to show exciting promise on this front. MIT's Moxie experiment was shipped to the Red Planet aboard the Perseverance rover for the purposes of producing oxygen using CO2, and after a year of testing, has been found to do so reliably at day or night, and across the seasons.
The lunchbox-sized Moxie, which standards for Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment, traveled to Mars aboard the Perseverance rover in 2020. After touching down in the Jezero crater in February of 2021, the unit was soon put to work and around two months later produced its first oxygen, around 5.4 grams (0.2 oz) of the stuff.

In a first-of-its-kind pilot study, scientists have surgically implanted a device into the brains of two obese subjects suffering from binge-eating disorder. The device was designed to detect and disrupt brain signals associated with binge-eating food cravings, with promising results laying the foundations for a future where implants can control a variety of impulsive behaviors.
In late 2017 a fascinating study was published that suggested certain activity in a brain region called the nucleus accumbens could be linked to harmful impulsive behaviors such as binge-eating. The study demonstrated in mice how a brain implant could, in real-time, detect activity linked to binge-eating impulses, deliver pulses of electricity to block those signals, and subsequently stop the animals from excessive food consumption.

Harvesting wind energy is an important part of the renewables mix, but when those huge turbine blades reach the end of their working lives, they could end up as waste in landfill. Siemens Gamesa has developed a recyclable blade that can be used to create new products when its wind-catching days are done.
Though other wind turbine components, such as towers and nacelles, can already be recycled, the composite materials used to manufacture the huge blades in commercial wind farm installations have proven more of a challenge, and often a costly one.
The key to the RecyclableBlades development from Siemens Gamesa is a new epoxy resin system that leverages proprietary Recyclamine technology from project partners Aditya Birla Advanced Materials.
